About Us

Since 1995, the Kennett Township Land Trust has:

  • With the assistance of local landowners, and township, state and county agencies, created the Red Clay Creek Conservation Corridor and the Stateline Woods Trail Corridor;
  • Since 2004, has more than doubled the number of landowners placing conservation easements on their property;
  • Created first-ever local Wildlife Sanctuary on land donated to KLT by the Vincenti family through grants provided by the Chester County Community Foundation;
  • Established the Marshall Mill House Public Trailhead for hiking and nature study through local philanthropic funding, Longwood and Dockstader Foundation funding, and the hard work of volunteers and interns;
  • Since 2004, secured state, county, and private grant funding in the amount of 2.2 million dollars for conservation projects, habitat restoration, and trails;
  • Secured commitments from the Kennett Township for matching grants, endowments, and contracts in the amount of 3.4 million dollars;
  • Recruited dedicated contractors, volunteers, interns, and supporters to spearhead projects, and provide land maintenance, office assistance, and special events services;
  • Held twice yearly Meet & Greet Educational Outreach Sessions on pertinent conservation and resource protection issues;
  • Created landowner Walk & Talks to showcase conservation projects;
  • Helped ‘get out the vote’ for the success of the 2005 Open Space Tax;
  • Held first-ever fundraiser, Partnership for Preservation, to showcase the successful conservation of the entire Arnold Farm on Old Kennett Road;
  • Helped create Neighbors for a Nature Preserve to raise awareness and the funding for the creation of the Stateline Woods Preserve an 82 acre parcel formerly slated for development now permanently protected for hiking, horseback riding and nature exploration.
  • Worked diligently to gain the public’s trust in our mission and a strong confidence in our integrity and our ability to be good stewards of the land.
